Our diagnostics encompass a multipoint series of tests designed to pinpoint the cause of your computer failure. These tests also help us determine if something else is going on that you may or may not yet be aware of. We do this to ensure that there are no surprises down the road in the life of your computer

  • We check all your system hardware. Motherboard, CPU, video card, RAM, hard drive, power supply and more are checked for any shorts or failures.
  • We determine the root cause of any software problems that are occurring, whether it is a bad update, virus infection, corruption to the operating system or one of countless other causes.
  • Most computers fall into the System Tune-Up category for repairs.  As such, the $40 up front fee is applied to this rate.
  • WE WON’T CHARGE MORE THAN DIAGNOSTICS WITHOUT CLIENT AUTHORIZATION. After diagnosing the problem, we will call you with an update and more accurate price if it would cost more than the originally quoted diagnostics charge.
    • Diagnostics usually take 1 business day to complete once we begin work.
  • After fixing the computer we offer the following complimentary services on all computers:
    • Install all Windows updates
    • Ensure antivirus is installed and up to date
    • Install and/or update important 3rd party software including Adobe Flash, Reader, Silverlight and more
    • Ensure that some form of word processing is installed, whether it be Office or a free, open source alternative
    • Wipe excessively dirty screens and casings, and spray out dust and dirt from fans
  • All computers are repaired on a first come, first serve basis. Most of the time we begin work within 24 hours of receiving the computer and complete diagnostics within another 24 hours. This timeline is entirely dependent on how busy the shop is at that time and we ask for your patience should diagnostics take longer.
  • Diagnostics fee is usually either waived or included in any price that is quoted above the original diagnostic cost. Should you decide not to repair the computer after diagnostics are complete, then the diagnostic fee still applies.
  • All work completed comes with a 30 day warranty of service, with the exception of virus removal which has specific warranty restrictions. Please see the virus removal description for details.
